Wandsworth Borough Council v Dr Chirag Patel (South Western Magistrates Court) 2011
Represented a dentist and was successful in persuading the prosecuting authority to drop charges of fraud so that the dentist pleaded guilty to misuse of a blue badge (section 117 Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984).

Background
Riz was formerly a state secondary school teacher in Islington before embarking on a legal career. He qualified as a solicitor in October 2004.
Outside interests
Riz has a passion for tea and asides from blending his own tea he designs bespoke tea menus for high end London restaurants.
Riz is a keen and adventurous traveller and has travelled extensively throughout Europe, South America, North Africa, the Middle East and Central, West and South Asia. This has included being ‘mugged’ by monkeys in the Amazon, camping in cloud forests on the Inca trail, shopping at the witches market in La Paz, being stuck in no man’s land at the Kyrgyz/Chinese border, hitching rides on scrap metal trucks in the Tian Shan mountains, escaping rampaging herds of Yak at the foothills of the Pamirs, ‘touching the sky’ from Tibetan Monasteries, wandering the bazaars of Samarkand and bidding for tea lots at the Colombo tea auction.
