OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF ALEX REID

Alex Reid issued the following official statement today:
"Firstly, Alex would like to express his gratitude to the public for the strong and passionate support he has received over the last few weeks. It is correct to say that Alex's marriage to Katie has recently become strained. There are a number of reasons for this. These have, unfortunately, not been accurately reported in the press.
Alex has always been committed to this marriage and his family. He regrets that, despite the efforts he has made, there is a realistic prospect that the relationship may come to an end.
Alex is very upset by this turn of events and recent speculation and inaccurate reporting about his marriage have made things seriously worse.
Despite numerous substantial offers of money, Alex made a decision to maintain a dignified silence and has not spoken to the press about the problems surrounding his marriage, and, does not wish to do so until such time that everything has been brought to a proper conclusion.
Unfortunately, a number of newspapers have published fabricated interviews with him. He is now taking legal action in relation to various stories and photographic images that have been circulated.
He will not be making any further comment about his wife or his marriage. Any further comment will be issued by his solicitors, Neumans LLP
Alex believes the public will see beyond the recent smear campaign and, hopes to be able to speak about some of the issues at a time when it is appropriate to do so. Given the fact there are children involved who Alex cares deeply about, Alex hopes that people will respect his privacy at this difficult time."
