GPhC Fitness to Practice procedures: Investigation
Complaints are referred to The Investigating Committee to consider allegations that a registrant's fitness to practice is impaired. The committee investigates such cases and decides whether to refer them to the Fitness to Practice Committee for a full inquiry.
Before making its decision, the Investigating Committee may order further inquiries to be made, including obtaining medical reports. Where the Investigating Committee decides not to refer a case, it may accept written undertakings from a registrant concerned or issue a warning to them. The Investigating Committee also has the power to give advice to the person concerned or to any other person or other body involved in its investigation.
The Investigating Committee may decide to take no further action, but the registrant will be informed that should any further allegation be received. The Registrar is required to notify the person concerned and the person who made the allegation of the decision and any action the Investigating Committee is taking.
